We had earlier reported Ford Brazil announcing company’s new hatchback, Ka (Facelift Figo for India) and compact sedan, Ka+ (Figo sedan for India). Now, Ford has confirmed the names of the production cars. The hatchback would be called Ka and the sedan will named ‘Ka+’ (pronounced Ka Mais which in English translates to Ka ‘More’).
The Ka+ sedan would be under four-metre length to save taxes and keep the price of the vehicle low. The Ka+ is also expected to sport a diesel engine putting it in direct competition with Honda’s heavily selling sedan, the Amaze and Maruti’s Swift Dzire. On the inside, Ka+ steering with mounted controls whereas the dashboard will be similar to that found on Fiesta.
Ka and Ka+ would share the same 1-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine that churns out 84 bhp and 105Nm of torque. The top line variants of Ka hatch and Ka+ sedan would sport a 1.5-liter 109 bhp engine that equips the Fiesta. The Ka hatchback has been tested for its fuel efficiency. The hatchback is claimed to offer an average of 13 kmpl in city and 15.1 kmpl on highway in petrol.
The Ka hatchback and Ka+ sedan would go up for sales in Brazilian market in August. Ford is expected to launch these two vehicles in India next year. However, no official confirmation on this has yet been given.
