Hero MotoCorp’s 6th facility will be set up at a location in South India very soon. At present, the company is on the lookout for land for setting up the factory.
Even after being faced with stiff competition from other automakers prowling the Indian market, Hero MotoCorp has hung on to its numero uno tag. The company has also successfully weathered the challenge posed by the break-up with erstwhile partner Honda, which had put a severe question mark on its technological self-sufficiency.
Nevertheless, as Hero MotoCorp realises that its current position is built mostly around the donkey work done by entry-level models like Splendor and Passion, it has a portfolio restructuring in sight. It is also looking to build its capacity so as to reduce delays in deliveries. On the heels of this resurgent Hero MotoCorp, the news about the setting up of Hero MotoCorp’s 6th facility isn’t surprising.
Hero MotoCorp’s 6th facility will be set up somewhere in South India. Currently, the company is on the lookout mode for the land needed to put this facility in place. This facility will have a capacity of about 1.5-2 million units per annum, and it will push the combined capacity of Hero motoCorp to 12 million units per annum. Hero MotoCorp’s 6th facility will cater only to the domestic market demand.
However, there is no news regarding the time frame for the completion of Hero MotoCorp’s 6th facility. We don’t even have an idea about the models that will roll out from the production line of this factory. This plant will be very essential to Hero MotoCorp’s survival plans against rivals like Honda and Bajaj. Hero MotoCorp’s position has been challenged by the ascension of both Honda and Bajaj, with a bit of infighting between themselves.
A few days back, there was talk about Hero MotoCorp venturing into the US market later this year. It is spreading its wings, definitely.
