Chevrolet India, the Indian subsidiary of popular GM-owned car manufacturing brand, has revealed its official exhibit plans for the fast approaching Auto Expo 2014, which will be held at India Expo Mart in Greater Noida early next month. Along with special variants of many of the models that are currently on sale in our country, Chevrolet at Auto Expo 2014 would also showcase the Camaro ZL1, the Adra concept, the Trailblazer SUV and the Beat facelift.
While the manufacturer showcased the Camaro SS at the Auto Expo 2012, the carmaker will display the new Camaro ZL1 at this year’s Expo. The new 2014 Camaro ZL1 is powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that belts out a max power of 580 hp at 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 753 Nm at 4,200 rpm. All this power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. The ZL1 is capable of accelerating from 0 to 96 kmph in just 3.9 seconds and has a top speed of almost 300kmph. Till now, Chevrolet India hasn’t divulged any plans to bring this car to and the showcasing might be just a part of a brand building exercise.
Chevrolet will unveil a new global concept at the Auto Expo 2014 and there are good chances that the upcoming concept would be the Adra compact SUV concept that would spawn a Ford EcoSport adversary. The production spec Adra will make it to our country soon after its public debut and the car’s USPs could be new-age petrol engine options and a long features list. The diesel variant could be propelled by Fiat-sourced 1.3 litre Multijet engines. Underpinning the Chevrolet Adra concept would be car maker’s Gamma 2 platform, which also underpins the Trax compact SUV. While the Trax measures 4.2 meters in length, the Adra will be a sub 4-metre offering and would hence benefit from excise duty cuts in India.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer will make its India debut at the Expo 2014 and could go on sale in last quarter of this year. The 2013 Trailblazer rival the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour the upcoming SUV looks modern, has potent engines and spacious interiors. The Trailblazer will be propelled by 2.5 liters and 2.8 liters diesel engines that have been designed to run for 2,40,000 kms without requiring any major work.
The Chevrolet Beat facelift India launch could happen in second quarter of this year and the car sports a refreshed bumper, new grille and revised fog lamps. Also, the car gets an upholstery change for the interiors. The Chevrolet Beat facelift’s equipment list too could see a few additions.
