We reported in detail when it first emerged that the Volkswagen Taigun is India-bound and now, official word is out that the Taigun compact SUV would make its India-debut at the fast approaching Auto Expo 2014. Volkswagen Taigun India launch could happen sometime in 2016.

India and Brazil would be the first countries to get the new Volkswagen Taigun Mini SUV and the car is expected to be priced bang in the EcoSport territory when it comes to us. There are slim chances of the new Taigun making it to US market, as Taigun’s compact dimensions and small, three-cylinder, gasoline and diesel engine options won’t appeal much to US car buyers, for whom, BIG has always been BEAUTIFUL All the engines for the Taigun will come mated to a 5 speed manual transmissions or a Dual Clutch auto ‘box for some variants.
The new Volkswagen Taigun mini SUV was first showcased at the Sao Paulo motor show last year and the upcoming Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster adversary would shares its platform with the Up! city car. The Taigun won’t get all wheel drive configuration and the carmaker believes that the Taigun could also rival the Fiat Panda Trekking and the likes.
Initially, the Taigun SUV will be assembled in Brazil, for left-hand drive markets and India, for right-hand drive markets.
