Tata has launched the crossover version of the Tiago named as the Tiago NRG. The NRG is introduced to enhance the off-road capabilities of the Tiago. The Tata Tiago NRG gets propelled by a petrol and diesel mill, which comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
On the outside, the Tata has tried to keep the design language of the Tiago NRG more like an offroader. The car gets a conventional headlamp cluster with fog lamps along with piano black grill up front. Moreover, it also equips a faux rugged skid plate. The car also sports a 14-inch dual-tone, 4 spoke alloy wheels. The blind spot detection is done by blacked out ORVM with integrated side blinkers along with a blacked-out door handles. The car gets a bold looking stance, thanks to muscular side cladding and wheel arches. The Tiago NRG looks quite premium as it gets an infinite blacked out roof. Completing the picture is a robust looking rear which gets conventional taillight along with muscular cladding on taillights and rugged skid plate. The car sits 180 mm above the ground to smartly counter the filthy road conditions. Overall, the Tiago NRG is a brilliant looking car which gets a practical amount of cosmetical upgrades.
The Tata Tiago NRG gets a blacked-out cabin on the inside. Infotainment needs are taken care of by a 12.7 cm touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with Bluetooth, USB and AUX. The seats employ a unique denim inspired fabric with a contrast orange pattern which looks quite premium. The Tiago NRG also gets orange accents around the AC vents and gear lever of the car that add a bit of sportiness. A driver can easily access the infotainment console with the help of steering mounted controls. The Tata Tiago NRG gets intelligently designed utility spaces which include a cooled glovebox, bottle holders, side pockets and 242-litres of a boot. The instrument console features an analogue tachometer on the left, an analogue speedometer on the right with digital fuel gauge along with a TFT digital display in the middle which provides information regarding gear, average economy and distance covered.
The Tata Tiago NRG is much safer than the Tiago as it comes with additional cladding around the body. It gets safety features like ABS with EBD, driver and passenger airbags, reverse parking sensors and camera, front fog lamps, rear defogger, rear smart wiper with washer and engine immobilizer.
The Tata Tiago NRG derives power from the same 1.2-litre Revotron petrol unit that produces 85 ps at 6000 rpm and 114 Nm at 3500 rpm. Tata also offers a 1.5-litre, Revotorq diesel mill which churns out the respective power and torque output of 70 ps at 4000rpm and 140 Nm at 3000 rpm. The transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Tata Tiago NRG offers a claimed fuel efficiency between 24 to 27 kmpl which is quite impressive. The petrol engine is peppy in nature. It revs happily till its redline, is also efficient, and has power spread throughout the rev range. On the other hand, the diesel engine is efficient, feels punchy to drive and for a 3-cylinder, feels pretty refined too. The car gets into the action as soon as you hit the gas paddle. The petrol motor can sprint from 0-100 in just 12 seconds. The petrol motor is now also available with an AMT gearbox.
Tata Tiago NRG price starts from INR 5.7 Lakh to INR 6.55 Lakh.
Tata Tiago NRG is their urban tough-roader that’s designed for a more youthful and younger audience. It is based on the Tiago and shares the same platform and engine options.
