BMW recently introduced new engines for the 1 series and 2 series range of models from its portfolio. Also, BMW Italia presented a custom edition of its plug-in hybrid sports car earlier last week. Now, the Bavaria based manufacturer has gone ahead and introduced the Individual Exterior Paint Programme to the i8.
A number of colour options such as Java Green, Speed Yellow, Solar Orange, Twilight Purple Pearl, Frozen Grey, Frozen Black, San Marino Blue and Grigio Telesto Pearl will be available. Currently available only for the U.K. market, the new paintjobs will be available with all i8 retailers and comes with a price tag of £5,495 (INR 5.41 lakhs).
Also on offer are the Black W spoke alloy wheels that come as a part of the optional package. The move comes after the company had introduced a Protonic Red edition of the i8 that garnered a good response, thus resulting in more colour trims for the model.

Powering the i8 is the same hybrid drive-train which is a combination of a 131 bhp electric motor clubbed with a BMW TwinPower Turbo 1.5-liter three-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 232 bhp. Both the motors produce a combined power output of 362 bhp. Sprinting from 0-100 km/hr takes the i8 a mere 4.4 seconds. On battery power alone, the plug-in hybrid can attain a top speed of 120 km/hr with a range of 35 kms. The i8 arrives in India through the CBU route and comes with a price tag of Rs. 2.14 crore (Ex-showroom, Delhi).
