It is celebration time for potential Ciaz and Ertiga customers. Owing to the reduction in the excise duty, Maruti Suzuki has reduced the price of their Ciaz and Ertiga. With the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan in action, the authorities have slashed the excise duty levied on electric and hybrid vehicles. The percent has come down from 24 to 12.5 resulting a price cut of up to INR 69,000 and INR 62,000 for the SHVS variants of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Ertiga respectively. Reports suggest that these price changes will be effective in Delhi only.

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is available in both, petrol and diesel versions. The 1,373cc petrol engine makes a power of 91 Bhp at 6,000rpm and a torque of 130Nm at 4,000 rpm. The diesel power comes from a DDiS 200 diesel engine that is equipped with an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). The oil burner produces 88 Bhp at 4,000 rpm and a peak torque of 200Nm at 1,750rpm. The petrol engines are assisted by a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 4-speed automatic transmission is available as an option. The diesel SHVS get the 5-speed manual only.
The Ertiga is available in petrol and diesel version as well. The 1373cc K14B petrol unit makes 67 Bhp at 6,000 rpm and 130Nm at 4,000 rpm whereas the 1248cc D13A SHVS diesel engine produces 65Bhp at 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 1750 rpm. The diesel variants of the Ertiga gets a 5-speed gearbox only, whereas the petrol variants receive an automatic transmission as an option as well.
It seems Delhi Govt trying every way to promote Maruti Suzkui and remove other players. Definitely diesel ban is not going to help much reduce pollution as Merc, BMWs are less polluting than Marutis even with higher capacity engines.
