Volkswagen India has launched the petrol version of its Ameo compact sedan in India. The new car has been priced at INR 5.14 lakh ex-Mumbai for the Trendline variant. Volkswagen is positioning the AMEO as a more premium offering in the compact sedan segment. The car gets several first-in-segment features such as cruise control, rain sensing wipers, centre arm rest, anti-pinch power windows and static cornering lights. The price list of the new Ameo 1.2 MPI petrol has been provided below. The bookings for the compact sedan will open across the country in showrooms starting July 2016. Customers can also pre-book the Ameo through the mobile application available on the Google PlayStore.

The sub-4 metre Ameo has been launched only with the 1.2-L 3-cylinder MPI engine mated to 5-speed manual gear box for now, but will soon be available with a 1.5-litre diesel mated with both manual and DSG automatic transmissions. The petrol engine’s power and torque output is rated at 74hp / 110Nm while the 1.5-litre diesel will dish out 89 hp / 230Nm.
Volkswagen Ameo boasts of several segment first features. To start with, all variants of the Ameo come equipped with dual front airbags and ABS as standard. Other noteworthy and distinctive features include cruise control, rain sensing wipers, anti-pinch windows, front central armrest, static cornering lights, rear view camera with parking sensors, touchscreen infotainment system, climatronic automatic A/C, electric foldable mirrors with turn indicators, rear AC vents and auto-dimming internal mirror.
