Volkswagen Ameo, revealed first at the 2016 Auto Expo, and then presented to media for a shoot is getting launched in June. Volkswagen India has officially revealed the engine options, variants and respective features on the new compact sedan on its official website. Let’s start with the engine and transmission options.
The Volkswagen Ameo will be offered with a 1.2 litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.5 litre 4-cylinder diesel engine (same as the Rapid and Vento). While the petrol engine will only get a 5-speed manual transmission, the diesel version will get the option of a 5-spped manual or a 7-speed dual clutch automatic DSG transmission. The petrol engine’s power and torque output will be rated at 74hp / 110Nm while the 1.5-litre diesel will dish out 89 hp / 230Nm.
The car will be offered in three trim levels like all other VW cars – Trendline, Comfortline and Highline. The 1.5 diesel with DSG will be offered only in the Comfortline and Highline trims though.
