VIDEO: Listen To The New Jawa and Its 27 Horses

The New Jawa and all its three iterations are finally here. Launched at a starting price of INR 1.55 lakh – 1.89 Lakh, the bikes are ready to be booked on Jawa’s website. Powered by a 293 cc 27 HP, 28 Nm DOHC engine, the makers of this bike say that they paid great attention to the sound which emanates from the engine’s twin pipes. They strived hard so that the four stroke motor’s sound could come as close to the ring-a-ding-ding of the 2 stroke Jawas.

Here’s a video from the launch event which manages to capture a bit of that sound, as the bike was fired for the first time since its public reveal. Pitted against the Royal Enfield 350, in our opinion, the engine appears to be rev friendly and the sound is fast paced, in comparison to the dug-dug, Long stroke symphony of the Royal Enfield. How much of music is it to the ears? We’ll only know once we get to ride it. Until then, lend a ear, or two.

Jawa and Jawa 42

The Jawa uses a 293 cc engine which produces 27 bhp and 28 Nm of torque. The motor is liquid cooled and in terms of equipment, the bike gets old school telescopic front forks, a fuel gauge, dual gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear and single-channel ABS. It is available in two body styles, as the Jawa and the 42. The single-seater Perak bobber will be available as a factory custom, early next year.
