Renault Flurnce (facelift)

  • Launch: May 2013
  • Engine: 2.0 Petrol, 1.5 Diesel
  • Price: Rs 13-15 lakhs

Arguably one of the most handsome mid sizers around, the Fluence has failed to leave a lasting impression on entry D segment sedan buyers in India. All this might change with the advent of the Fluence facelift. The Renault Fluence facelift was launched in international markets early this year and is definitely taking its own sweet time coming to us. However, we expect to be greeted by the updated car at the Auto Expo in February next year. The Fluence facelift sports a new front fascia that consists of a new bumper, new front grille and new headlights. The car could come to us with additional features and a slight price cut.

It would be interesting to see if the updated Fluence would be sufficiently potent to nibble into sales of lethal rivals such as the Hyundai Elantra and the new Skoda Octavia.

Renault Koleos (facelift)

  • Launch: April 2014
  • Engine options: 2.0 Diesel
  • Price: INR 25 lakhs

Much like the Fluence, the Koleos hasn’t been able to leave a mark on the sales chart of Indian car market. A slightly updated Koleos will be launched in India early next year and we expect to be greeted by this model at the Auto Expo in February. The updated Koleos gets a larger ‘lozenge’ logo, a new front grille and a revised set of bumpers. On the inside, the car comes draped in a new shade of brown, gets an upholstery change and an updated infotainment system.

Skoda Rapid (facelift)

  • Launch: October 2014
  • Engine options: 1.6 Petrol, 1.6 Diesel
  • Price: INR 8-10 lakhs

The Rapid can easily be counted among the most successful cars from Skoda India yet. While the Rapid we have on sale in India is much different from its European counterpart, VW-Vento roots and the brand image that Skoda enjoys in India has done a lot of good to this re-badged model. However, Skoda India realizes that the car, which is more than 2 years old now, is gradually getting dated and hence, it would soon bestow its entry level C segment sedan with a visual makeover. Expect the Rapid facelift come with a revised front fascia and slightly spruced up interiors. Also expect some additional features and re-tuned motors.

Skoda Superb (facelift)

  • Launch: March 2014
  • Engine options: 1.8 Petrol, 2.0 Diesel
  • Price: INR 19-25 lakhs

Before launching an updated Rapid, Skoda India would launch the Superb facelift in the country. The updated Superb is already on sale overseas and will be launched in India early next year. The facelift brings along a new front fascia that is very much in keeping with the carmaker’s new design language. The rear too has been updated and the car looks a tad more premium now. Safely expect the car to get slightly spruced up interiors and some more features. Engine options are most likely to be carried over.

Skoda Yeti (facelift)

  • Launch: May 2014
  • Engine options: 2.0 Diesel
  • Price: INR 12-15 lakhs

There also is an updated Yeti coming our way! Set for an early 2014 debut, the Yeti refresh sports a slightly updated front fascia that, like the Superb facelift’s front end, is more in line with Skoda’s latest design language. The car gets a new set of headlamps, an Octavia-like grille and a new set of bumpers. The car also get’s Octavia’s steering wheel and new upholstery.

The facelift would enable the ageing crossover to soldier on for a couple of years more, before the complete model replacement comes to us.

Tata Nano (facelift)

  • Engine options: 0.6 Petrol, 0.8 Diesel

The Nano is about to get yet another facelift and the upcoming facelift will debut with the highly anticipated diesel variant. The diesel variant will be powered by a 800cc diesel engine and will have stellar fuel economy among one its biggest USPs. The facelift is expected to bring along a set of new bumpers, slightly modified interiors and an ‘open-able’ hatch.
