  • Launch: January 2014
  • Engine options: 4.6 Petrol, 3.0 Diesel
  • Price: INR 1-1.25 crore

Slated to be launched next month, the all new S Class will initially come to us via CBU route and in just one variant- S500 petrol. In July however, Mercedes India will commence the CKD assembly and will launch the S350 CDI diesel variant. It is being said that with the advent of the all new model, the S Class has become a lot more luxurious and safer too! If nothing else, it seems to have sent competition running back to drawing boards!

We just can’t wait to sample this car first hand in India!

Nissan Sunny (facelift)

  • Launch: April 2014
  • Engine options: 1.5 Petrol, 1.5 Diesel
  • Price: INR 6-10 lakhs

Now that the Micra facelift is out and on sale in India, it is the turn of Sunny to go under the scalpel. It may be noted that after Micra, the Sunny is easily the most successful car from Nissan India. With the facelift, Nissan India intends to infuse some excitement into the fast ageing brand. The Nissan facelift would come with a comprehensively updated front end that would sport a new bumper, new front grille, more stylish headlamps and probably LED DRLs too. At the rear, the car would get some chrome and re-profiled taillamps.

Engine options are expected to remain the same but Nissan India might give them a re-map for better fuel efficiency.

Nissan X-Trail (new)

  • Launch: October 2014
  • Engine options: 2.2 Diesel
  • Price: INR 21-26 lakhs

It is no secret that the current X-Trail could never set the sales charts on fire in India. However, all this could change with the advent of the next gen model. Slated for an end-2014 launch, the new gen X-Trail would be a direct rival to the new Hyundai Santa Fe and the Toyota Fortuner. The new gen X-Trail is underpinned by the manufacturer’s new CMF (Common Module Family) platform and is powered by a 2.2 litre common rail diesel engine.

Porsche Macan

  • Launch: August 2014
  • Engine options: 2.0 Petrol, 3.6 Petrol, 2.0 Diesel, 3.0 Diesel
  • Price: INR 55-72 lakhs

It has hardly been some time since the Porsche Macan made its public debut and the new Porsche is already headed our way! Set for a late 2014 launch, the Macan will become the cheapest crossover in Porsche India’s product portfolio. The new Macan looks like a baby Cayenne, which is only a good thing, and will go on sale with a range of petrol and diesel engines. The new Macan, in all probability, would enable its manufacturer to cash in on the increased demand for luxury crossovers in India.

The Porsche Macan is looking all set to eat into the sales of BMW X5, Mercedes M Class and sibling Audi Q5.

Porsche 911 Turbo (new)

  • Launch: March 2014
  • Engine options: 3.8 Petrol
  • Price: INR 2.1 crore

While the latest gen Porsche 911 is already on sale in India, the new 911 Turbo will make it to us early next year. The upcoming 991 Turbo is powered by a 3.8 litres petrol engine that has a max power of 513bhp and peak torque of 67.3kgm. The Turbo S has 552bhp-72.4kgm. The car can accelerate from zero to hundred kmph in just three seconds and the car is sufficiently potent to rival the Ferrari 458 Italia and the likes.

Renault Duster (facelift)

  • Launch: October 2014
  • Engine options: 1.6 Petrol, 1.5 Diesel
  • Price: INR 7.5-11 lakhs

From being the unchallenged king of the entry level SUV segment of India to having to face fast dwindling sales. Times have taken a full U-turn for the Renault Duster. The Duster recently got a minor facelift and the updated car will be launched in India late next year. Quite obviously, the Duster facelift aims to infuse some much needed excitement with the once-popular brand and the facelift could come to us with a longer features list and a substantial price cut too! The Duster facelift sports a new set of headlamps, a new front grille, and a slightly spruced up dashboard.

It will be interesting to see if the upcoming facelift would re-vitalize the sales performance of the Duster compact crossover in India.
