The Suzuki Swift, or the Maruti Suzuki Swift as we know it, is an immensely popular model all over the world. In its latest avatar, the hatchback is offered with multiple engine options abroad with varied outputs to appeal to a wide range of audiences. The brand has recently announced a new limited edition of this popular car – the Katana edition, which will have a very limited production run of a mere 30 units, all reserved for the Dutch market. It is interesting to note that the brand chose the country for this model, depite the popularity of electric and hybrid vehicles in the country. This car retails for a cool 28,999 Euros which roughly translates to INR 22.67 Lakh.
The name Katana pays homage to the legendary sword used by Japanese Samurais. This is the first time any car from the brand gets this moniker, however, Suzuki has been selling a motorcycle with that name for quite some time now. This limited edition model comes with quite some kit, which justifies the exorbitant price tag. For starters, this car is propelled by a 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbocharged petrol motor, also found in the Suzuki Swift Sport. This engine is tuned to produce 140 horses and a twist of 230 Nm and is married to a 6-speed gearbox. Also on offer is HKS Hipermax MAX IV GT coilovers and adjustable sports suspension, dropping the ride by a significant amount, reducing body roll.
As mentioned, only 30 units of this hatchback shall be produced, out of which 15 shall be finished in a shade of Silver Grey and the other 15 will be finished in Metallic Black. Both colour options will come with a contrasting graphics scheme. All models will get a specific number which will make an appearance at various spots on the car. The car will also come with a sports exhaust system which comes with black chrome exhaust tips. As mentioned, this car is reserved only for the Dutch market and all we can do is feat our eyes on some lovely photographs of this model.
