Honda India seems to be readying itself for the festive season with the launch of the 2016 Accord. Reports suggest that the model is scheduled to be launched in India in the last week of October. The new Accord was unveiled at the company’s R&D facility in Silicon Valley, California in July 2015.
The upcoming Accord made its Indian debut at the 2016 Auto Expo held in February earlier this year. A few Honda dealerships have also begun accepting bookings for the upcoming accord for an amount of INR 51,000. The new Accord has already been spied testing in India ahead of its launch next month.
The test mule in question was powered by a 2.4-litre petrol engine. This motor produces a maximum power output of 174 PS while the peak torque is rated at 225 Nm. Another unit of the model that was imported to the country for homologation purposes is said to be powered by the 2.0-litre petrol engine which is likely to be mated to a hybrid powertrain. While the petrol motor will produce 155 hp and 190 Nm, the electric motor will help produce an additional power output of 75hp. Transmission duties will be taken care of by a CVT, while a manual transmission could also be available.
Features on the upcoming Accord include LED powered headlights, taillights and fog lamps, 19 inch alloy wheels, a 7 inch display audio touchscreen interface with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic rain sensing wipers and heated rear seats. Once launched in India, the 2016 Honda Accord will take on the likes of the Skoda Superb, Toyota Camry and the Volkswagen Passat.
