Tata Motors has been working on a few models for quite some time now. Upcoming models such as the Hexa, Kite 5 and the Nexon have been spied earlier on various occasions. And as we wait for these models to be launched in the Indian market, another model from the company is said to be in the works.

Now, reports suggest that Tata Motors is working on an all new premium hatchback that will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Volkswagen Polo and the Hyundai Elite i20. Codenamed X451, the model will be designed ground up and will take a bit of inspiration from the Nexon compact SUV.  The model is believed to come equipped with sleeker projector headlamps while the fog lamps are likely to be positioned lower than the conventional setup. Also on offer would be LED DRLs although their placement on the bumper is unknown.

The X451, which will be based on the company’s Advance Modular Platform, will receive a more aggressive front fascia as compared to the likes of the Bolt and the Zest. On the inside, the model is said to receive more premium quality materials than the type seen on the company’s current models. Also on offer would be a multi-layer design and a pop up display for the centre console.

At the heart of the model would be the four cylinder petrol and diesel engines. It is unclear though whether the model will benefit from the powertrains seen on the Bolt or Tata Motors would opt for newer, or re-tuned engines. Reports added that the model could be loosely based on the Tata Bolt Sport that was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo held earlier this year. There also seems to be a possibility of a premium sedan based on the X451, which, once launched; will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Honda City.
