A new Tucson has arrived, and this one may surprise people who remember the Hyundai SUV sold in India. Hyundai has revealed the fifth-generation Tucson in South Korea. The change is easy to spot. The familiar sharp look has been replaced by a taller, squarer shape that gives the SUV a tougher character. It gets Hyundai’s latest Art of Steel design language and also brings more space for passengers.
Bigger And More Upright
The new Tucson is larger in every key dimension. The bigger body should also make the SUV feel more spacious inside.
| Dimension | 2027 Tucson |
|---|---|
| Length | 4,700 mm |
| Width | 1,905 mm |
| Height | 1,685 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,785 mm |
| Rear headroom | 1,031 mm |
Compared with the previous model, length has gone up by 60 mm, width by 40 mm and wheelbase by 30 mm. Rear headroom has increased by 29 mm.
The rear doors can also open to 83 degrees instead of 73 degrees. This should make getting into the second row easier.
A Very Different Face
Hyundai has moved away from the sharp parametric look of the older Tucson. The new SUV has a square bonnet, wide stance and large wheel arches. The front gets:
- Slim full width LED lighting
- Vertical H shaped lighting elements
- Boxy headlamp units
- Wide lower air intake
- Silver bumper details
At the rear, another slim light bar connects the lighting elements. Large TUCSON lettering sits across the tailgate, with a chunky bumper and roof spoiler below.
The side has prominent fenders, sharp body lines, thick cladding and squared wheel arches. Five new paint options are also offered, including Serenity White Pearl, Driftwood Grey and Redrock Orange Matte.

New Cabin With A Large Screen
The dashboard has been redesigned from the ground up. A large central touchscreen sits in the middle, with Hyundai’s Pleos infotainment system expected to power it.
There is also a slim digital display for the driver and a new two spoke steering wheel. The centre console uses a floating design and creates extra storage space underneath.
Other available features include:
- Dual wireless phone charging
- Powered front seats
- Dual zone climate control
- LED mood lighting
- Panoramic sunroof
- Premium audio system
- 360 degree camera
- Connected car technology
- Multiple airbags
- ADAS safety features
Four interior themes will be offered globally, including black monotone and several dual tone combinations.

Tucson XRT Looks More Rugged
Hyundai has also shown the Tucson XRT. This version gets a wider rectangular grille, larger skid plates, black wheel arch extensions and special alloy wheels.
The XRT also has a different rear bumper, XRT badges, patterned seats and protective floor mats. A touch sensitive LED system is also fitted to the tailgate for outdoor use.

Engine Details Still Under Wraps
Hyundai has not yet shared the full engine and gearbox details for the fifth generation Tucson. The company is expected to offer a mix of petrol and electrified powertrains depending on the market.
A revised 1.6 litre hybrid setup is expected to be one of the important options. Plug in hybrid and petrol versions could also be offered in selected markets.
For India, there is no confirmed launch plan yet. Sadly, the fourth generation Tucson was discontinued here in 2025 after arriving in 2022.
If the new Tucson does reach India, its larger size, boxy styling and fresh cabin could give it a very different identity. For now, Hyundai has certainly made the Tucson much more distinctive.
