Last month we reported that Porsche India has imported a handful of Macan SUV units in India. Now, the company has discreetly launched the Macan in India at a starting price of INR 1 Crore (ex-showroom Delhi) for the base diesel model. The Macan Turbo petrol has been priced at INR 1.1 Crore (ex-showroom Delhi).
The Porsche Macan is built on the same platform which underpins the Audi Q5. As aforementioned, Porsche India has launched the car here in two versions- Macan Turbo and Macan S Diesel. Powering the Macan Turbo is a 3.6-litre bi-turbo petrol mill that cranks out a whopping 400 PS of max power. As per Porsche’s claims, the Turbo hits 100 kmph from standstill in a mere 4.5 seconds.
The oil burner S Diesel version is powered by a 3.0 litre diesel which also performs the duty in the Cayenne and the Panamera. This motor outputs 258 PS of max power. This engine propels the SUV to 100 kmph from standstill in a mere 6.3 seconds and has enough grunt to keep accelerating the car to its top speed of 230 kmph.
Both the Macan models in India will come with all wheel drive and Porsche’s 7-speed PDK transmission as standard.
Other equipment on the Porsche Macan include :
- Off-road package that lifts its ride height by 40mm
- Interior lighting package
- Electrically operated tailgate
- Bi-xenon headlamps
- 3-Zone automatic climate control
