Peugeot’s 508 D-segment sedan and the 207 hatchback have been caught testing several times on the Mumbai-Pune expressway. The French carmaker has big plans for India, and plans to begin its second innings here by launching the highly acclaimed 508 sedan. The stylish looking sedan will take the center stage at Peugeot’s exhibit at this year’s Auto Expo. Expected to compete with the Accord and the Superb, the 508 will hold its own with its modern styling, rich features list and great drive quality. We expect some announcement about the company’s plans in India at the Expo.
While a D-segment car is a good way to build brand equity for yourself in a new market, for a country like India, a car maker is relegated to the sidelines if it doesn’t have a contender in the mainstream hatchback market. For that purpose, the 207 hatch will stay parked pretty beside its bigger sibling.
Apart from these two mainstream cars, Peugeot is also expected to bring the RCZ sports coupe to its exhibit this year. The car will add some glitz to its pavilion and get people really interested. The sexy looking sports car exhibits Peugeot’s design prowess beautifully, and will help create an upmarket image for the brand in the visitors’ mindset.
