Premier tried to create some stir in the market with its Rio last year, but the product didn’t quite click owing to the lack of refinement and styling. The company will be showcasing an improved, facelifted version of the ultra compact SUV at the 11th Auto Expo in New Delhi this year. ‘Compact SUV’ seems to be the hottest word in the Indian auto market at the moment, with Ford, Maruti and Mahindra all gearing up to launch a product in the segment. Premier would like to substantiate its position in the segment.
Premier recently introduced the petrol version of its Rio SUV with 77 bhp. The diesel variant with its 1.5 liter diesel engines dishes out 65 bhp of power and 150 nm of torque.
While no official announcements have been made, expect a concept car to be placed at the exhibit area to draw crowds.
