In April this year, news surfaced that Mercedes-Benz was considering launching the V6 engined E-class in the Indian market. Now, months later, it has emerged that the German car maker will be launching the E350 CDI sedan in India on September 11.
The Mercedes-Benz E350 CDI will feature a 3.0 liter V6 mill under its hood which will be mated to a 7 speed automatic transmission. The E350 CDI will get features like Active Lane Keeping Assist, Cross-traffic Assist and a blind spot warning system.
Mercedes-Benz launched the current-generation (W212) Mercedes E-class in India way back in the year 2009. Initially, Mercdes-Benz India launched the E-class only with V6 engines. The smaller four pot motors were introduced at a later stage. The company launched the E-Class facelift in June last year with only two engine options- E200 CGI with the 184 bhp 4 pot petrol and E250 CDI with the 204 bhp 4 pot diesel motors. Both these engines come mated to a 7G-tronic automatic transmission.
With the rising USD compared to the Indian National Rupee, the demand for the V6 engined E-class suffered a drop. This wasn’t the case with Mercedes alone as other luxury car makers like BMW, Jaguar and Audi too saw a drop in the sales of their V6 equipped sedans.
It is being said that the E350 CDI price will start at around INR 58 lakh (ex-showroom) upon its launch in India. Stay tuned to Motoroids for more updates on the Mercedes-Benz E350 India launch and other details.
