Maruti Suzuki India has reported sales of 111,748 units for the month of April 2015. The carmaker shifted a total of 86,196 cars in April 2014, resulting in an increase in sales of 29.6% year-over-year. Maruti Suzuki sold 100,709 units in the domestic market, which stood at 79,119 units the same time last year and that’s a bump of 27.3% YOY. The company also moved 35,403 units of the Alto and Wagon R hatchback, which is a 35.9% increase compared to 26,043 units sold last year over the same period.
Small hatchbacks such as the Wagon R sold well, amounting to 35,403 units.
Cars such as the Celerio, Dzire, Ritz and Swift accounted for 38,926 units in April ’14. That figure rose by 8.7% last month, to 42,297 units. Maruti’s Dzire Tour model sold only 741 units the same time last year, that number has grown to 1826 units this time. Maruti Suzuki’s Ciaz mid-size saloon was first introduced in October of last year and sold 4662 units. The carmaker also sold 76 units of the SX4 in April 2014.

The premium saloon Kizashi, didn’t fare well and sold zero units last month. Meanwhile, sales of bigger vehicles such as the Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga MPV went down by 11.2%. The sales figure of these stood at 5011 units in April ’14, over the same period last month, the figures stood at 4452 units. However, sales of Omni and Eeco vans climbed by 45.0% and the carmaker sold 12,069 units, compared to just 8322 units in the same period last year. Maruti Suzuki’s export sales increased to 11,039 units last month, up by 56% over the previous year’s 7077 units.
