Recently, we told you about Maruti Suzuki teasing the upcoming Ignis sub-compact crossover on its official website. Now, the launch date of the new Maruti Crossover has been revealed, and the much anticipated car is expected to hit the showrooms on January 13 2017.
Earlier this year, the Ignis had scored a 3 star rating in the Euro NCAP and 5 stars with a safety package. The model has also been spotted on quite a few occasions during its public road tests in India as well as abroad. The production version of the sub compact crossover had made its Indian debut at the 2016 Auto Expo.

We have already carried an exhaustive design review of the car, which gives you a good idea about the highs and lows of the car’s exterior appearance. Dimension wise, the Ignis measures 3,700 mm in length, 1,660 mm in width and 1,595 mm in height while the wheelbase stands at 2,435 mm. Powering the model globally is 1.25-litre four cylinder Dualjet petrol motor mated to an SHVS mild hybrid system that produces 91 PS and 118 Nm of torque.
Although unconfirmed, the India-spec Ignis will draw power from a 1.2-litre VTVT petrol engine while a Fiat sourced Multijet diesel could be offered later in its life cycle. Transmission duties would be taken care of by a five speed manual transmission as standard while an Automatic Gear Shift (AGS) could also be available as an option. Once launched, the Ignis will rival the Mahindra KUV100 and the upcoming Datsun Go-Cross.
