Maruti Suzuki Ignis teased

Maruti Suzuki Ignis listed on Nexa website, India launch soon

Maruti Suzuki has teased the Ignis sub-compact crossover through one of their official websites. With the Ignis surfacing on the website of Nexa, the premium dealership network of Maruti Suzuki through which the model will be sold, we can sense that the launch is not far away.

Prospective customers of the Ignis also have the option of filling a registration form to keep themselves updated about the launch and details of the upcoming sub-compact crossover. A spiritual successor to the Ritz, the Ignis seen on the website reveals the silhouette of the model along with its U-shaped LED DRLs. Once launched in India, the Ignis will be placed below the Baleno in the company’s product portfolio.

The upcoming Ignis made its Indian debut in the production ready form at the 2016 Auto Expo held in February this year. Test mules of the Ignis have been spotted testing in India on a few occasions prior to its launch that is expected to take place early next year.

In international markets, the Ignis is available with a 1.25-litre four cylinder Dualjet petrol engine that produces 91 PS and 118 Nm of torque. This motor is mated to the company’s SHVS mild hybrid system. While details of the India spec Ignis are under wraps, it is likely that the model will be propelled by the 1.2-litre VTVT petrol engine while a Fiat sourced diesel engine could be introduced later on. Transmission duties would include a five speed manual transmission as standard while Auto Gear Shift (AGS) could be available as an option. Once launched, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis will rival the Mahindra KUV100 and the upcoming Datsun Go-Cross.
