KTM RC 125 – What To Expect?

Austrian Motorcycle Giant, KTM, recently launched their most affordable bike in India, the Duke 125. However, they are now planning to launch the fully-faired version of the baby Duke, to delight all those who like things faired. This fully-faired version will be called the RC 125, and it will be sharing the same engine and chassis as its streetfighter version. The bike is already available in the international market but wasn’t launched in the Indian market until now. Now, as the Duke 125 is gaining popularity, KTM has decided to launch the RC 125 as their new entry-level fully-faired motorcycle in India.

Chassis and Dimensions

In terms of chassis and dimensions, the KTM RC 125 is expected to get the same body and dimensions as the international version. However, for competitive pricing, KTM will be replacing the dual-channel ABS system, with a standard single-channel ABS system. Similar to the Duke 125, the RC 125 will be getting a powder-coated, steel trellis frame, USD front forks and a Rear Monoshock. The front and rear discs will manage braking duties, while the 10-litre fuel tank will provide sufficient mileage for the everyday commute. The weight of the bike is also likely to be under 140 kgs.

Engine and Performance

The RC 125 will be powered by the same engine as the Duke 125. The bike will be fitted with a 124.7cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine which cranks out 14.75 HP and 12 Nm of torque. The 4-stroke engine will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox and will get a mechanically actuated multi-disc clutch. Thanks to its aerodynamic build, this entry-level KTM RC should be able to better the Duke 125’s 120 km/h top speed.

Features

In terms of features, similar to the Duke, the bike will get a TFT instrument cluster and in all probability, single-channel ABS. The ergonomic and sporty design of the bike will make space for a step-up split-seat and a sporty riding position. Unlike other 125cc bikes, the RC 125 won’t be getting a kick-start option and will only be available with an electric starter. In true KTM style, the bodywork will be draped in stylish, race-inspired graphics for a strong street presence.
