Kawasaki seems to be supercharged about extending its product list, literally. After the launch of the 300 hp monster, the Ninja H2R and its street legal version, the Ninja H2, the two-wheeler manufacturer from the land of the rising sun is reportedly planning to introduce a new supercharged motorcycle, this time in the middle-weight segment.

According to new reports from motoring portal Motorcycle News, the Akashi based superbike manufacturer is working on a smaller displacement model of its supercharged motorcycle, the Ninja H2. The report suggests that the Japanese manufacturer has trademarked the name ‘R2’ which hints towards a new supercharged motorcycle. The report also mentioned that the new supercharged engine, allegedly a 800cc motor, could produce 190 hp of power which, according to us, is slightly optimistic given the fact that the street legal litre class H2 make 200 hp.

The Kawasaki Ninja H2

The R2, according to the report, will be powered by an 800cc supercharged engine that would be a more street friendly as well as affordable version of the 998 cc supercharged H2. Sources also suggest that Kawasaki is working on a track based version of the R2 that would be based on the H2R and could be christened as the ‘R2R’. While the H2 was showcased at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, the R2 is expected to arrive at this very show during 2017 leg of the Japanese motor show.

A 600cc supercharged engine is also said to be in the works which is rumoured to be called the Ninja S2. Once launched in the global market, there is a good chance that the R2 could make it to the Indian shores considering the demand the H2 received in the country.
