After teasing the new product a few days ago, Ampere Electric has launched the Magnus Pro electric scooter in India. The latest entrant in the electric vehicle segment is priced at INR 73,900, ex-showroom and is available in four colours: metallic red, golden yellow, bluish pearl white, and graphite black.

Power for the scooter is generated by a 1200 watt motor and a 60V lithium,-ion battery. Like some other electric scooters in its segment, the Magnus Pro has two riding modes – Eco and Cruise. Ampere Electric claims a range of 100km in Eco mode while the Cruise mode will cut it down to 80km. The Magnus Pro can attain a top speed of 55 kmph. Ampere has also equipped it with a limp mode which will basically detect if the scooter is low on charge and then quickly caps the top speed to ensure that the rider reaches home without getting stranded.
The battery can be charged in five to six hours and there is no fast charger provided with the scooter. The Magnus Pro’s kerb weight is just 82kg which will help all kind of riders to manoeuvre it effectively in traffic. Ampere has taken special care for the convenience of the rider and that reflects in the utility spaces included in the scooter. There is 10 litres of boot space that the company claims can take in a full-face ISI helmet and also have a place for knick-knacks.
Ampere has also thrown in LED headlamps which have become a norm in the modern electric scooter segment. The front pocket also includes a USB charger which surely boosts the convenience factor. The instrument cluster is fully digital and has a blue backlight. Ampere says that a payload of 150kg can be carried on the scooter and the 150mm ground clearance is sufficient for our roads as well.
The braking department is handled by drum brakes at both ends coupled with a combined braking system and there’s regenerative braking as well. The suspension department is handled by telescopic shock absorbers up front and coil springs at the back. A standard, a three-year warranty is offered on the scooter while an additional two years is available at an extra cost.
