Modified Lancer Seized In Kerala Feature Image

Modified Mitsubishi Lancer That Looks Like A “Ferrari” Ends Up In Kerala RTO’s Impound

Recently, we saw a modified Maruti Suzuki Baleno with aftermarket bodywork, centred around Mercedes’s ‘Diamond Grille’ being impounded by State Transport Commissioner. Now, another car has ended in police impound and this time it’s a Mitsubishi Lancer. The Mitsubishi Lancer, as reported by ManoramaOnline, was seized from Tirur in Malappuram, for being modified into a “Ferrari”.

We’re not sure how that looks like a Ferrari.

The modified Mitsubishi Lancer features aftermarket front bumper, rear bumper with air diffuser, modified hood with a vent, and a rear spoiler. It also seems to have an aftermarket exhaust pipe. The vehicle’s owner has been given 15 days to convert the vehicle back into stock condition or face penalty and cancellation of registration.

The car was seized under the Indian Motor Vehicle Act’s (MVA) Section 52 which prohibits any modification to the vehicle without prior approval from the RTO.

Authorities have started investigations to crackdown on garages who modify vehicles without any approval from the RTO. They have also intensified search for such modified vehicles in the state.
