No substantial evidence against the man on motorcycle in Delhi blamed for harassing woman

Update: fresh reports suggest that the case isn’t as clear as it seemed to be at the outset. Eye-witnesses in the case have stated that the girl reported the incident to the police maliciously. The matter is sub judice and after the emergence of new witnesses, it wouldn’t be right on our part to blame either of the parties.  We have, thus, taken the image of the man in question off this post. The case at the beginning, seemed very clear, with a purported ‘helpless’ girl making the effort to report an incident of harassment to the police, and with the Delhi Police, social network users and the entire media rallying behind her, we wrongly assumed that it was an open and shut case. We got carried away, as it was appalling to see an urban biker bringing a bad name to the entire biking community. We shall be more careful while pursuing any such reports in the future.

We have also followed up the story with the statement of a man who was an eyewitness to the entire episode. Here’s the link

If we hurt the sentiments of any of you in the heat of the moment, we apologise unconditionally

They say that it takes all kinds of people to make a group. And that adage certainly holds true for bikers as much as it does for any other class. You have the sports biker, you have the stunter, you have the tourer, and you have the track fiend. Heck, you even have the commuter and the business-worker, who, while overlooked, is as important to the community as any one of the former. After all, it is them who are responsible for driving the sales of the el-cheapo econo-commuters which then bring down the cost of making and selling the firebreathing machines that you and I covet so much.

Bikers, for the most part, are good souls. You will often find them setting out on awareness rides on holidays, educating the public on the safety benefits of protective gear and helmets and the like. You will also find a lot of them helping other in need, be it raising money for a charitable cause or helping clean the messier parts of some societies.

Even those who ride solely for the feeling of freedom and the solitude – and there are lot of them – are kindred souls as a whole. They are courteous, obey traffic laws, and are generally nice to children, women, the elder folk, and the differently-abled. Week after week, we here at Motoroids get emails and messages from our readers, pointing out one good or commendable deed a biker or his friend has done, thus making the world a slightly nicer place to live in, in his own small way.

It really gratifies us to receive such messages and mails, and we do our best to feature these souls on our website.

We aren’t going into the specifics of the story itself, as it is now a case for the court, and the law alone can and will decide whether the man, who is now in custody, is guilty or not. There’s one small caveat though: the man’s mother counter-alleges that the girl is doing it all for publicity. Now, this can be seen in two ways: at its word value, or as the most obvious knee-jerk response ever.

Either way, friends, this is not the representative face of a biker. If such uncouth behavior becomes an acceptable part and parcel of our civilized society, it is indeed a grim shape of things to come for motorcycling.

  1. I was usual follower of motoroids, but this news has changed it. Do you guys even know what actually happened?. Stop doing Google search for news and start covering one .. read what had actually happened . Don't waste somebody's life, when you don't know the half truth. would request you to either remove this story or update it with current facts..

  2. Motoroids please do tell the story from the guy's part as well.. It is not fare that only part of the story is shown.. From what I gathered later on it really does seem he is innocent..

  3. These type of people bring out true colours of our society, no one in the big crowd will have courage to come up and ask the girlvifcshe needs help but if something bad would have happened whole Delhi would be doing cancel march and gathering news. Same thing happened to my girlfriend when I was out of town she threatened to call cops on that guy thinking people standing near by would come to her help but no one cared the culprit even became so much angry that he could have hit her but by God's grace the guy with him just rode the bike away but no one standing and watching this whole thing dared to ask her that madam do you need help. These types of people think they are baap of society if you say something to them they will gather other goondas like them and beat you up. More often than not they will have a powerful baap having their back. Only vigilante justice served to these bastards can save us and our so called society.

  4. Is there an iota of proof that the guy in the picture actually harassed the woman in question. Any woman can click a random picture of a guy, and claim molestation and harassment.

So stop being the judge, and adding fuel to gossip. That's what kids do in middle school.
