Volkswagen has pitted the Tiguan against entry-level luxury models from brands like Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz and have priced the car very strategically, the Tiguan is a viable option for anyone looking for a premium and well-built German SUV.
The Volkswagen Tiguan's design looks simple and boxy with all the straight lines but its the more intricate details that make the Tiguan stand out, like the beautiful all-LED headlights and the chrome grille and a set of 18-inch alloy wheels. The rear end though is like every other modern Volkswagen like the new Jetta and the Passat and the tail lamps are all LED as well. The vehicle feels well built and solid like any other Volkswagen which makes up for the rather simple looks, overall the Tiguan looks pleasing to the eye but doesn't have the road presence of its competition
The Volkswagen Tiguan gets an all back interior. It is pretty simple and functional in its layout but it does have all the necessary features rolled up under its sleeve. The SUV gets a host of features such as electric and heated front seats, memory function for the driver’s seat, 3-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, paddle shifters, auto headlamps and electrically adjustable mirrors. The Volkswagen Tiguan comes loaded with a host of high-end safety features it gets 6 Airbags, Anti-lock braking System (ABS) and Electronic Stabilisation Programme (ESP). The vehicle also gets hill hold and hill descent control, Hill Hold mitigates chances of rolling down from steep inclines as you continue from a resting position. On downward slopes, Hill Descent Control takes control for a safe drive down. it gets an active hood as well The Active Hood Sensor is for pedestrian safety. In case of a collision, the front bumper signals the Active Hood and raises it, minimizing damage.
The Volkswagen Tiguan gets only one engine and transmission option in India. It comes with a 2.0l TDI turbocharged diesel engine which churns out 143PS of max power at 4,000rpm and 340Nm of peak torque between 1,750rpm and 2,750rpm and is mated to the tried and tested 7 speed DSG gearbox with paddle shifters and comes with 4 motion AWD. The 2.ol TDI engine is remarkably refined and getting off the line is fairly easy and the Tiguan gathers speed rather quickly. The car feels incredibly sturdy and sure-footed at all speeds. The shifts are quick and precise as well thanks to the 7 speed DSG gearbox
Volkswagen claims a mileage of 17.06km to the litre which is on par with the rivals like the BMW x1 and Audi Q3
