Only few hours ago, we reported that a test mule of Mahindra S101 compact SUV, which is an upcoming Ford EcoSport adversary, has been spotted testing in Chandigarh. (CLICK HERE for our earlier report on Mahindra compact SUV) Now, our friend Aaron Vimal has sent us another images of the Mahindra S101 compact SUV. Akin to the earlier spy shot, the car seen in this image is heavily camouflaged and hence, the latest spy pics hardly reveal anything new about this upcoming model.

Mahindra S101 Compact SUV spotted in Chandigarh

The Mahindra compact SUV from Mahindra will be built on a monocoque chassis and the upcoming model will be the second monocoque with transverse layout from Mahindra. The S101 would go on sale in both petrol and diesel variants. While the diesel variant islikely to be powered by Quanto’s 1.5 litre, three-pot, twin scroll turbo engine, the petrol variant is expected to get an all-new 1.2 litre, turbocharged unit. For the S101, Quanto’s 1.5 litre motor would be re-tuned for more performance and refinement. It is speculated that the S101’s oil burner could have an ARAI tested fuel mileage of as much as 23 kmpl. The S101 could also get an automated manual transmission (AMT)!

It is being said that the upcoming compact SUV could look a lot like a baby Mahindra XUV500. The same reports also suggest that the S101 would go on sale under the XUV300 moniker. On the inside too, the S101 could borrow a lot from XUV500. The car might even come with a smaller version of the XUVs audio-visual-navigation package. Other features that the car would come with include- auto climate control, steering mounted buttons for infotainment system and safety features like ABS, EBD, 4 airbags and ESP.

The upcoming Ford EcoSport rival from Mahindra would be a sub-4m SUV and hene, would be entitled for excise duty relaxations that Govt. of India offers to such cars.

Stay tuned to Motoroids for more dope on the upcoming Mahindra compact SUV.

We thank Aaron Vimal for sharing his Mahindra S101 image with us
