Seen here is an image of EcoSport-rivaling Mahindra S101 Compact SUV, which was recently spotted on splendid roads of Chandigarh by Mr. Nisheet Jain, an IAB reader. It is being said that the Mahindra S101 compact SUV would look like a slightly smaller XUV500 and we believe that this might lead to the car going on sale with the XUV3OO moniker
— A Mahindra S101 Compact SUV speculative rendering
The Mahindra S101 compact SUV will be built on a monocoque chassis and is likely to go on sale in multiple engine variants. Some of the engines on offer could be as small as 1.5 litres in terms of displacement. Previous reports suggest that Quanto’s 1.5 litres, three-pot, twin scroll turbo engine could make it to the upcoming Mahindra complact SUV and it would be safe to assume that Mahindra would re-tune this oil burner to extract more performance and refinement. The S101’s diesel engine might have an ARAI tested fuel mileage of upto 23 kmpl. Also, the S101 is likely to come with an automatic transmission variant.
Quite obviously, the upcoming EcoSport-rivaling Mahindra S101 compact SUV would measure less than 4 metres in length and hence, would benefit from excise duty benefits being offered to such cars by Govt. of India. On the inside too, the XUV300 could borrow in plenty from the XUV500 and might even come with a smaller version of the XUVs audio-visual-navigation package. Other features that the car would come with include- auto climate control, steering mounted buttons for infotainment system and safety features like ABS, EBD, 4 airbags and ESP. The soon to be launched Mahindra compact SUV will become the second monocoque with transverse layout from the popular UV maker.
