With the new 2017 Polo GTI unveiled, Volkswagen is reportedly clearing the stock of the previous generation model. A new report by TeamBHP suggests that the Volkswagen Polo GTI hot-hatch is being sold at a discounted price of INR 19.99 (ex-showroom). The three-door hatchback was launched in India back in November 2016 at INR 25.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and INR 25.65 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The Polo GTI was introduced as a Limited Edition model with only 99 examples reserved for India, at least to start with.
The GTI badge brings a lot more horsepower to the table than the standard Polo. The 1.8L 4-cylinder TSI engine, mated with a 7-speed automatic DSG transmission, is tuned to deliver a peak power of 192 PS. Peak torque is rated at a high 250 NM between a low and wide band of 1250-5300 rpm.
The new 2017 Polo GTI, on the other hand, uses a 2.0-litre TSI with power output of 200 PS. At the front, this most powerful Polo features a specially designed bumper with integrated spoiler lip and fog lights as standard. At the rear, the Polo GTI sports a large roof spoiler in high-gloss black, a diffuser in the bumper, GTI-specific dual tailpipes, LED tail lights and the GTI badge.
