VW India, the Indian subsidiary of the German auto giant, will launch the Volkswagen Polo 1.2 TSI hot hatch in Indian market on April 29.

The 1.2 GT TSI, which is looking all set to become the flagship variant of the Polo line up of hatchbacks in India, will come with slight changes to the exteriors and the interiors. Changes to the exteriors include inclusion of a rear spoiler, GT TSI badges at front grille, side and rear and a set of very tasty ‘Estrada’ alloys. On the inside, the car comes with sport pedals with rubber inserts, auto climate control and leather on gear levar and steering wheel.

Powering the Volkswagen Polo 1.2 GT TSI will be a 1.2-liter, four cylinders, turbocharged petrol engine that has a max power output of 105 PS @ 5,000 RPM and has a peak torque figure of 175Nm, which is developed between 1,500-4,100 RPM.

The Volkswagen Polo 1.2 GT TSI will become the logical successor of the Polo 1.6 that was on sale earlier. The car was discontinued due to the lack of enough demand. The Polo 1.6 was powered by a 1.6 litres, normally aspirated petrol engine that has a max power output of 103.5bhp @ 5,250rpm and enjoyed a peak torque figure of 153Nm @ 3,750rpm. Mated to Polo 1.2 GT TSI’s motor will be a 7-speed dual clutch gearbox. The car rides on 15 inch wheels that wear 180/60 section tires.

The Polo GT TSI has an ARAI fuel consumption figure of 17.2kmpl.
