Volkswagen Ameo & Polo To Gain New Top-Spec Highline Plus Trim; Features, Prices Inside

Volkswagen recently launched a new top-end variant for their popular mid-size sedan, the Vento Highline Plus. It received significant upgrades in terms of features and technology that will help it in keeping up the fire on its better equipped rivals like the City. Now, reports suggests that the company is looking to pass on the new top-spec features to the Ameo and Polo as well.

While the standout change in the Vento Highline Plus was an all-new full-LED headlamp cluster, it remains unclear whether it will trickle down to the Ameo and the Polo. Volkswagen might be forced to reconsider the upgrade considering the high costs involved with an advanced headlamp unit.

Where the Vento received redesigned alloy wheels with the same 15-inch size as the existing rims, the Polo and Ameo are likely to ride on uprated 16-inch wheels with a 9-spoke design. Both models are also likely to receive a reverse-parking camera.

The camera will be paired to a new infotainment screen inside which will function as the reverse monitor. Sadly, it still misses out on modern functionalities like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto which are offered by some of its worthy rivals.

The mechanicals of the cars are likely to remain untouched. Both cars are powered by common 1.5 Litre TDI diesel and 1.2 Litre MPI Petrol options mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The diesel engine also receives a 7-speed DSG option.

A report by Autocar suggests that the prices for the Ameo Highline Plus would hover near INR 7.35 Lakhs for petrol and INR 8.59 Lakhs for the diesel variant. The corresponding Polo variants would be around INR 15,000 cheaper, model to model.
