Wrong side driving is one of the major causes of accident in the country. We’ve, time and again, come across videos of vehicles being driven on the wrong direction, nearly resulting in a fatal crash. The most recent (and one of the scariest) being the one where a Royal Enfield rider nearly crashed into an oncoming truck that was being driven on the wrong side of the road. Then there was a moron who was seen riding in the middle of a highway, riding in the opposite direction.
Is there a solution to such errant drivers/riders? Pune Traffic Police has one. Pune recently got Tyre Killers that are aimed to stop motorists from driving on the wrong side of the road. Tyre Killers will definitely stop motorists driving/riding in the wrong direction but it does sound like a fairly expensive affair. Moreover, it might lead to a serious accident if someone misses one of these Tyre Killers, thus leading to severe injuries. So, while it might sound like an effective idea in the short run, the cops will have to find safer ways to stop motorists from driving/riding in the wrong direction.
