As 2017 approaches, Austrian two-wheeler maker KTM prepares for participating in MotoGP. Its offering? A 1000cc V4 powered motorcycle, prototype of which is currently named as the KTM RC16.

A prototype of the motorcycle was tested by retired MotoGP racer Alex Hofmann at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria as KTM Sporting Director Heinz Kinigadner shared the photographs via social networking website, Facebook. Alex Hofmann would be accompanied by Mika Kallio with the RC16’s R&D.

An earlier announcement by KTM’s Head of Motorsport, Pit Beirer suggested that the MotoGP motorcycle will be a real KTM that will be propelled by a V4 engine nested in a tubular trellis frame. The MotoGP motorcycle will be equipped with WP Suspension and will be 100% built and made in Austria with KTM.

KTM will be participating in in the 2017 season of MotoGP but you do not have to wait for that long to see the motorcycle in action, at least the prototype. We can say one thing for sure – that motorcycle sounds sweet. Check out the KTM RC16 Prototype in action in these videos:
