VIDEO: 2018 BMW M5 Power Slide Teaser In The Desert Reveals Carbon Fibre Roof

BMW has released yet another teaser of the upcoming 2018 M5 ahead of its unveil next week. This teaser video showcases the new M5 power sliding in between a desert while dropping a quick glance at the new roof.

This teaser video focuses on the carbon fibre roof that the Bavarian car maker will equip the new M5 with. The carbon fibre roof, besides adding to the aesthetical appeal of the vehicle, will also result in significant weight saving for the model, hence lowering the center of gravity.

Touted to be the first M car to feature the company’s xDrive all wheel drive system, the 2018 M5 will make its world debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show this year.  The previous teaser video revealed that the model will come equipped with carbon ceramic brakes. The company will also offer an M5 first edition model which will be available in limited numbers.

Firepower for the 2018 BMW M5 will come from a revised version of the 4.4-litre twin turbocharged V8 engine. This motor could produce a power output in excess of 600 hp while the torque figure will stand at around 700 Nm. Paired to an eight speed automatic transmission that replaces the seven speed dual clutch unit, the model could possibly sprint from 0-100 kmph in less than 3.5 seconds.
