The 2011 Maruti Suzuki Swift coming to India this Diwali has earned a superb 5-star rating in the extremely stringent Euro NCAP safety crash tests. The car performed incredibly well on the safety count keeping the occupants (adults and children) and pedestrians safe in all the tests conducted. The car’s Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and safety belt reminder for driver and passengers also went a long way in helping it get such a high rating. Here’s the video
The chances of the India bound version of the Swift to have the same high standards of safety are bleak though. The NCAP tested car had six airbags and keeping the Indian market’s price consciousness into mind, we suspect whether MSIL will bring the fully loaded car here. Same goes for ESP (Electronic Stability Programme). We genuinely hope that Maruti brings the goodies as an option to those who are ready to pay for it. If that happens, the much loved Swift will get the accolades for being the safest car in its segment in India.
