Earlier, we reported about the six door MINI Traveller. Now, more spy pics and details about the car have surfaced on the web. According to reports, the car will be dubbed Clubman, which was recently caught undergoing testing in Europe.
This estate/wagon version of the upcoming MINI is just about the same size as a BMW 3-Series Touring which was showcased at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It is called the six door as the boot consists of two separate doors which open on the sides.
As can be seen from the pics, the Clubman is significantly larger than its predecessor. This MINI Clubman will be the largest one to be built ever, by the Iconic British car maker. Apart from being longer and wider than a regular MINI, this car is also taller. There will be a significant increase in the passenger and cargo space. Gone will be the days when MINI’s would be thought of less spacious cars.
The Clubman will share the engine options with the Cooper, which include :
- A 1.5 liter three pot gasoline motor with 134 bhp and 230 Nm of torque
- A 1.5 liter three pot oil burner with 114 bhp and 269 Nm of torque
- A turbocharged 2.0 liter four pot gasoline motor with 189 bhp and 300 Nm of torque
- A turbocharged 2.0 liter four pot gasoline motor with 217 bhp
The rear pics of the car show that the Clubman sports dual exhaust arrangement. This means that the car will also be available in the sporty “S” version. The car features individual wipers for the split rear windscreen. The tail lights on the car are positioned horizontally, instead of the vertical arrangement seen on the Cooper versions.
The car is expected to be launched in late 2015.
