The next generation Mercedes-Benz GLK has been spied again. The camouflage fails to hide the cars larger proportions.

Mercedes-Benz recently  introduced the 2014 GLA, so the Stuttgart based premium car maker has increased the dimensions of the GLK to increase the gap between the two. The test mule spotted here has a longer wheelbase than the current generation and it also seems to be slightly wider. The hood has been elongated and the front axle is pushed forward in order to accommodate the stretched wheelbase.

With these changes, the 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK will provide more space inside the cabin and the design of the vehicle will be considerably sportier than today’s GLK. The sporty look will help attract younger buyers.

The next gen 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK will use the underpinnings of the recently unveiled C-Class. The GLK now will also be offered as a right-hand drive model, which means that the model can be sold in markets such as India, UK, Australia and Japan.

Possible engine options for the 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLK  include:

  • A 2.2-liter CDI four-pot with 170 HP (125 kW)/ 204 HP (150 kW)/ 231 HP (170 kW)
  • A 2.0-liter four-pot with 184 HP (135 kW)/ 211 HP (155 kW)/252 HP (185 kW)
  • 3.0-liter V6 with 333 HP (245 kW)

The inclusion of an AMG version for the GLK is unclear, but most likely, Mercedes-Benz will introduce it later, since they have such a version for nearly all of its models. The car is expected to be launched in late 2014.
