TVS Akula Teaser

TVS Akula 310 teased on Twitter – But wait, it’s still a concept

TVS Akula 310 - Teaser

In a surprising turn of events, TVS teased the Akula 310 on its official TVS Apache RTR Twitter page. While some folks are claiming that the teaser hints towards a launch, it isn’t. TVS released the image on the occasion of Shark Awareness Day that was celebrated on July 14, 2016.

What is the TVS Akula 310?

Unless you have been living under a rock, you would have already seen the Akula 310 concept back in January this year. Unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi, the Akula commemorates 33 years of TVS racing. The design is inspired by a Shark — thus the Shark Awareness Day Post — while the motorcycle is be based on the upcoming BMW G310R. The Akula will share its liquid cooled 310cc motor with the German motorcycle roadster. The motor on the naked roadster pumps out 34 bhp of power at 9500 rpm and 21 Nm of torque at an early 7500 rpm. The Akula may get a different state of tune but it would be too early to say anything on that front.

Feature list on the Akula Concept, as announced at the Auto Expo, includes RAM air induction, gill vents for thermal efficiency, aluminium trellis sub-frame, carbon fibre body, lightweight aluminium components and a light weight race exhaust. Suspension duties are performed by a race developed upside-down suspension upfront and a monoshock suspension at the rear.

The teased motorcycle is still in the concept form and we expect to see a production spec motorcycle by the end of this year if not in 2017. Check out the detailed image gallery of the TVS Akula 310 below and let us know your views about the motorcycle through the comments section.
