Toyota Teases New Hilux Again Ahead of India Launch

A few days back, Toyota gave everyone a first look at the much-awaited new generation Hilux. Now, the company has shared another teaser, giving a better view of the pickup before its official India debut on July 28, 2026. Since the ninth-generation Hilux has already made its global debut last year, there is already a fair idea of what the India-bound model is likely to offer.

The latest teaser gives a clearer look at the front and rear design. The changes are easy to notice and make the pickup look sharper than before. The side profile still carries the familiar double cab body style, but the front and rear receive fresh styling.

Exterior updates likely for India

The India spec Hilux is expected to borrow most of its styling from the global version. Some of the expected design changes include:

  • New black grille with multiple hexagonal elements
  • Slimmer LED headlamps
  • New front bumper with a fresh skid plate
  • Newly designed alloy wheels
  • Redesigned LED tail lamps
  • Tailgate with bold Toyota lettering

The overall shape is expected to stay familiar, but these updates give the pickup a more modern road presence.

Cabin likely to get a major upgrade

The biggest improvements are expected inside the cabin. Toyota is likely to introduce a completely refreshed dashboard along with larger displays and more premium materials.

Expected cabin highlights include:

  • 12.3 inch touchscreen infotainment system
  • 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster
  • Wireless Android Auto
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay
  • New upholstery
  • Redesigned steering wheel
  • Updated centre console with physical buttons

The larger infotainment screen replaces the older 7.8 inch unit offered in the current Hilux.

More features expected

Toyota could also offer several new convenience and safety features with the updated pickup.

Expected Safety Feature
360 degree camera
Six airbags
Dual zone climate control
Powered front seats
Ventilated front seats
ADAS
Rear differential lock switch
Low range transfer case

Engine details

No major mechanical changes are expected for the new Hilux in India. The pickup is likely to continue with the trusted 2.8 litre four cylinder turbo diesel engine.

Reports also suggest Toyota may introduce the 48V mild hybrid system that is already available with the Fortuner Neo Drive. This setup uses a belt integrated starter generator and a lithium ion battery. It can deliver smoother starts, better fuel efficiency, regenerative braking and an automatic start stop function.
