We have on various occasions got you images of the Toyota Innova Crysta spotted in the country ahead of its impending launch. Now, if reports are to be believed, Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM), the Indian arm of Toyota is all set to launch the MPV in the Indian market on the 3rd of May, 2016.
As the launch date inches closer, more details of the India-spec Innova Crysta surface on the web. Now, a leaked image reveals the engine specifications of this upcoming MPV. While the outgoing model was powered by a 2.5 litre diesel engine, the Innova Crysta is powered by a 2.4-, as well as a 2.8-litre diesel engine in the international markets. The very same diesel mills will be powering the MPV here in India as well.
Propelling the Innova Crysta in India will be both the 2.4- and 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engines from Toyota’s new GD family of diesel engines. While the former (2GD) will produce a power output of 149 PS and 343 Nm of torque, the latter (1GD) will produce 174 PS of power and 360 Nm of torque. Both the engines will come mated to a manual transmission while an automatic transmission is also confirmed to be available as an optional feature. The duo are said to conform to the Euro5 emission norms.

As seen in the spy image, the Innova Crysta will be available in 3 trims – GX, VX and ZX. Only the top end trims will be receiving the AT option. The image doesn’t divulge any details of a petrol mill hinting that if at all, it might come to the MPV later in its life cycle. Once launched, the Innova Crysta will rival the likes of the Renault Lodgy. Bookings for the MPV have already begun for an amount of Rs. 50,000 while deliveries are reported to begin from May 13th.
