Toyota has got a clear warning from the potential customers who had booked the Etios, as they are now changing their choice to other cars in the segment like the Hyundai Verna, Tata Manza, VW Vento & Maruti SX4. With people at their wits end and losing all their patience after long waiting periods, Toyota is busy convincing the crowd to buy the Etios Liva, which is the hatchback version of the most wanted sedan Toyota Etios. The Company is working hard and planning to launch the Etios Liva by April so that the crowd which is awaiting for the Etios sedan can instead purchase the hatch without changing loyalties. The launch date for the Liva was supposedly June, now we know why Toyota has pre-poned their decision.
The main reason for the delay of the Etios sedan is that the engine & gear transmission is imported from the Toyota HQ in Tokyo. Hence to meet the rising demand Toyota India has invested Rs 3,200 crore to set up its second manufacturing facility at Bidadi near Bangalore just for Etios and Liva. Good news is Toyota India is working on the diesel version for the Etios sedan as well as the Etios Liva hatch, with propable launch of Etios Diesel by the end of this year in December (Fingers crossed).
