If a report by the good chaps at Autocar India is to be believed, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese auto giant, will be seen launching the new Toyota Etios Cross launch in India will happen on May 7. Car aficionados and Toyota fanatics would remember that the Toyota Etios Cross India debut took place earlier this year at the Auto Expo 2014. Bookings for the upcoming model have already been underway at Toyota dealerships across the country.
As per an earlier announcement, the Toyota Etios Cross will go on sale with as many as three engine options. While the entry level variants will get a 1.2 litre four cylinder petrol engine that has a max power of 80 PS at 5,600 rpm and peak torque of 104 Nm at 3,100 rpm, the higher variant will get a 1.5-liter petrol motor that has a max power of 90 PS at 5,600 rpm and peak torque of 132 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. The diesel variant will be powered by a 1.4-liter oil burner that has a max power of 68 PS at 3,800 rpm and peak torque of 170 Nm between 1,800 and 2,400 rpm. All the engines will come mated to a five speed manual gearbox.
Exterior styling updates for the Toyota Etios Cross include a new body color option, plastic body cladding, faux skid plates at the front and rear, roof rails and diamond cut alloy wheels. Safety features on offer will include- ABS, EBD and dual front Airbags.
Toyota Etios Cross gets additional equipment in form of :
- Height adjustable driver seat
- Leather wrapped steering
- Audio system with Bluetooth, USB and Aux-in
- Steering mounted audio controls
- OVRM’s with indicators.
- Rear window defogger
- Centrally mounted tachometer and speedometer unit with a digital clock
