More Toyota Etios Cross details surface online

Only few hours ago, we brought to you a couple of speculative renderings of the upcoming Fiat Punto Cross. Now, here are some new Toyota Etios Cross details that we have managed to dig out! The Toyota Etios Cross will greet us at Auto Expo 2014 and is likely to go on sale shortly thereafter.  (Click here to read about all the 40 odd cars that will be launched in India in 2014). The price of Etios Cross in India is expected to be around a lakh more than that of the regular variants.

The upcoming model will be a more ‘macho’ looking version of the Etios Liva and should appeal to those who have been looking for a rugged ‘five-door’ but have been staying away from SUVs.  The Toyota Etios Cross would come with plastic body cladding, faux skid plats, new design alloy wheels and roof rails.

The Toyota Etios Cross will sport a full black interior to complement the rugged exterior. It may be noted that this change is one of the few steps that Toyota has undertaken to make the insides of the Etios more exciting. The seats will come clad in black fabric, with ‘Etios Cross’ embossed on them.

The petrol variant will come with V trim and will boast of many upmarket features like Dual Airbags, integrated audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, et al.

Thanks to the addition of body cladding, skid plats and roof rails, the Etios Cross doesn’t share the external dimensions with the regular variants. Length x Width x Height  now stands at 3895 mm X 1735 mm X 1555 mm, compared to 3775 mm x 1695 mm x 1510 mm for the regular variants. The wheel base, at 2460 mm, remains the same. The new design alloy wheels will come shod with 180/60 R15 spec tires.

The car will share its engine options with the regular variants. This means that various rumors that suggested that the car would come with the Toyota Liva TRD’s 1.5 liter motor can be safely dismissed. The Etios Cross will get a 1.2 liter petrol engine that will have a max power of 80 PS and peak torque of 104 Nm. The diesel variant will be powered by the Liva’s 1.3 liter motor that has a max power of 68 PS.
