Tata Motors’ TAL Manufacturing Solutions Ltd. (TAL) delivers its first advanced composite floor beam (ACFB) for the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

In a moment of the country’s pride, American aerospace multinational, Boeing took delivery of its first advanced composite floor beam (ACFB) for its 787-9 Dreamliner range of aircrafts from TAL Manufacturing Solutions Ltd. (TAL), a Tata enterprise and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Motors. The ACFB was produced in collaboration with Boeing by TAL at its dedicated world-class facility in MIHAN SEZ located in Nagpur.

TAL Manufacturing Solutions Limited provides manufacturing solutions across wide range of industries in India and abroad. TAL’s offerings are delivered through its Aerospace Business Unit at Nagpur with a focus on manufacture of precision components, assemblies and tooling for aero-structures. The Industrial Division based at Pune is in business of Machine Tools; Robotics, Jigs and Fixtures; Material Handling Systems and Fluid Power Systems. The enterprise employs about 600 people across both the locations.

A celebratory flag-off ceremony was held in Nagpur 17th June, 2014, to commemorate a major milestone in TAL’s progression towards world class cost-effective offerings in the aerospace market. Present were senior TAL officials including the Chairman, Mr R.S Thakur, Mr John Byrne – Vice President, Aircraft Materials and Structures, Supplier Management, Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), and Mr Jay Campbell – Managing Director, International Business Development, BCA.

Boeing India – President, Mr Pratyush Kumar said “This is not just any part,it represents a highly advanced form of composite manufacturing that enhances India’s stature in the global supply chain network of Boeing. This is an excellent example of India bringing productivity and competitiveness to Boeing, and Boeing bringing cutting-edge technology to India – a truly win-win partnership.”

We will accelerate production to meet Boeing requirements and are committed to create a center of excellence for aerospace in India backed by world-class facilities, proficient people and global best practices.”

Now, TAL is positioned to methodically ramp up production for 787-9 floor beams that are shipped to Boeing partners in Italy, Japan and the United States.
