Tata Motors launches Divo Luxury Coach, to rival Volvo, Merc

Tata Motors today launched the Tata Divo, a luxurious long distance inter-city travel bus. The brand new luxury AC Coach is meant for inter-city passenger transportation and tourist operations. The Tata Divo body design comes from Hispano Carrocera of Spain, a fully owned subsidiary of Tata Motors. The new bus is all set to launch Tata Motors in the fast growing business of luxury buses in India.

Sleek design and luxurious interiors give the Dico an upmarket feel. Tata Divo offers customised interior features such as different seating layouts in semi-sleeper and seater configurations, wide seats with upto 135 degree recline with head flaps and armrests, generous saloon space with high roof, hat-racks with personalised controls for AC and reading lights, large luggage space, putting it at par with established luxury coachmakers such as Volvo. In addition, an entertainment system with DVD player and 2 LCD screens, on board refrigerator, mobile charging points, destination board, public address system, enhance the travel experience.

Some interesting features of the Divo are:

  •     Advanced instrument cluster with on-board diagnostics
  •     Exterior rear-view mirrors to give large angle vision and eliminate front-end blind spots
  •     4-spoke steering wheel with adjustable positions
  •     Pneumatic & mechanically suspended seat to ensure driver comfort
  •     Hydraulic parallel opening baggage flaps for better and convenient access to luggage
  •     World-class entertainment system from Carbon
  •     Reversing camera, destination board, refrigerator and mobile charging points as optional items

The BS III compliant, Tata Divo’s drive-train is engineered by 285 HP powerful Cummins engine. The engine is mated with a 6-speed overdrive gearbox for higher fuel efficiency. Large 430 mm diameter clutch is claimed to have enhanced life. Braking performance is said to be good too, aided by a hydrodynamic retarder.

Driver comfort has been taken to the next level as the bus has a pneumatically suspended seat for more comfort, electronic accelerator pedal and precision gear shifting for minimizing driver fatigue, and a new aesthetic dashboard and instrument cluster with on-board diagnostics.

Tata Divo not only stands for world class design, assured reliability and superior performance, but also spells high on safety. The hydrodynamic retarder ensures better safety and the exceptional aerodynamic drag coefficient increases vehicle stability.

Customers can personalise the Tata Divo by choosing a preferred colour scheme and styling options. The range will be available across all dealerships from January 2012 onwards.

The Tata Divo (BS III version) price range starts from Rs. 66 lakhs, ex-showroom New Delhi.

    Excellent Tata motors I'm proud of you.You are slow but you are making a prominent place for yourself.The looks of the buses are good please improvise on the speed the Volvo has a 9400 engine and the bus can cruse to 150 kmph and so the Mer also so guys you are doing a great job at TATA Mortors but improvise the engine more. JAI IND
