Tata Motors have officially announced the price for their latest hatch, the D90. The base VX variant of the new 90PS car carries a sticker price of Rs 5.99 lakh ex-showroom. The bump up in the power is achieved via a variable geometry turbo for the Fiat sourced 1.3 liter Quadrajet engine. Toque is up too, at an impressive 200Nm. Those power and torque figures make the Indica Vista D90 one of the more powerful machines in the hatchback segment in India.
The new car will be available in two variants, namely VX and ZX+. While the VX variant is priced at Rs 5.99 lakh, the more premium ZX+ version comes with a tag of Rs 6.83 lakh (both prices ex-Delhi). There will be plenty of differentiators to let the world know that you have paid more money for your D90. Key differentiators would be sportier bumpers, a contrasting roof, a rear roof mounted spoiler, and special alloy wheels.
Headline news, as regards performance is a top speed of nigh 160km/h top speed and a 0-100km/h sprint time of less than 16 seconds. Space has always been a virtue for the Vista, and it still does.
Apart from more power and additional exterior zing the Vista D90 also has some new features on the inside. The car has a 6.7 inch touch screen interface with sat-nav, audio and video playback, DVD playability and USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity. The D90 borrows some bits from its Manza cousin too. The car’s instrument panel has been shifted from center to the right, just like in the Manza sedan. On board computer display has also been taken from the Manza.
The D90 also features an automatic climate control system and offers safety options such as ABS and dual front airbags. Tata Motors are offering a 2 year / 75,000 km warranty on the machine to sweetent the deal a bit more for the customers. Tata Motors is offering the car in five colors.
More powerful the new Vista D90 may well be, but we cannot really be sure about how well all that power is laid down to the tar. Interestingly, Tata Motors refrained from calling us for a media drive for some reason.
Stay tuned though, for we’ll get you the first drive report of the car anyway. Do let us know your thoughts on the new product via comments.
