We have always felt that the Tata Aria has to be the most well engineered car in the Tata Motors stable. However, due to various factors ranging from a high price tag to a non SUVish styling, the car never really caught the fancy of car buying lot. The car, which has been marketed as a crossover, has never really managed to attract the buyers looking for a UV in INR 10-16 lakhs price bracket.
The Tata Aria, which has been in our car market since more than a couple of years, has fell really short of the expectations of the car maker and the situation is so bad that even huge price cuts haven’t really worked for the Tata flagship. It has now emerged that Tata Motors is close to re-launching the cross-over and giving it an image make-over.
It is expected that Tata Motors would make the price cut ‘permanent’ and will also come out with a budget-end variant of the Tata Aria 4×2 for the taxi market and fleet operators.
The Tata Aria is also expected to receive a minor facelift along with getting a 6 speed automatic transmission option for the top end variant.
